The Post Entry Quarantine (PEQ) Facility is a cornerstone of Australia’s national biosecurity system, providing secure, controlled environments for imported animals and plants. The facility was designed to meet stringent Commonwealth standards for biosecurity, containment, operational resilience, and safety.
We were engaged by CPB Contractors on behalf of the Federal Government to deliver specialist civil, structural, and containment works, constructing the full suite of quarantine buildings, including:
- Avian Facility: purpose-built, airtight structure for secure bird quarantine.
- Dogs and Cats Facility: high-compliance structures with controlled containment.
- Plant Quarantine Buildings: secure structures designed for imported flora.
We delivered the complete civil and structural works for all quarantine facilities, ensuring compliance with strict biosecurity requirements and operational functionality.
Key elements of scope included:
- Construction of airtight avian quarantine facility, supporting critical biosecurity containment.
- Civil and structural works for dogs, cats, and plant quarantine buildings.
- Integration with specialist services, mechanical, electrical, and fit-out works to meet strict containment and biosecurity standards.
- Delivery within a highly controlled, secure construction environment with regulated access and environmental management protocols.
The project required meticulous planning and execution across multiple highly sensitive structures. Key performance highlights included:
- Safe and timely construction of all quarantine buildings, including airtight and containment-critical facilities.
- Compliance with Commonwealth biosecurity and safety standards throughout the project.
- Coordination with specialist fit-out contractors to ensure operational readiness for each quarantine program.
- Effective management of sequencing, access, and environmental risks in a high-security, operationally sensitive site.
The PEQ Facility project demonstrated our capability in:
- Delivering specialist, high-security and airtight structures for animals and plants.
- Managing complex projects in highly controlled, biosecure environments.
- Integrating civil, structural, and specialist services works to meet stringent operational and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting assets of national importance with long-term durability and compliance.
The completed Post Entry Quarantine Facility, encompassing the avian, dogs, cats, and plant quarantine buildings, strengthens Australia’s biosecurity framework. Our delivery provided secure, durable, and fully compliant structures that enable safe management of imported animals and plants, reinforcing its reputation for specialist, high-security government infrastructure projects.
